Tron founder Justin Sun announced that he won the auction for the first commercial launch of Jeff BezosBlue Origin New Shepard rocket for $28 million. He will fly into space in 2022.

Earlier in June, Sun outbid about 2,600 people for a seat on Bezos’ rocket ship. But was unable to travel due to a scheduling issue.

Thus, New Shepard made its first crewed flight on July 20, 2021. Moreover, the place of the anonymous winner at that time went to the entrepreneur Joes Daemen, who made the second-largest bet. He sent his son Oliver Daemen flying.

Launching “Sea of Stars” campaign

Sun intends to take five “warriors” with him, whom he will select during the launched “Sea of Stars” campaign. He also revealed some criteria for candidates:

  1. “a prominent figure in the crypto world who is crazy about cruising in Metaverse”.
  2. a member of the TRON DAO community “with a strong will to explore space”.
  3. a technology entrepreneur “who has a vision for the future and welcomes innovation in all technology-related fields”.
  4. “an artist who has the wildest dreams of space and the future of humankind”.
  5. an influential celebrity in social networks, who will become “a mystery guest to inspire more people to participate in space exploration.”

“With the rapid development of commercial aerospace, entering space may become a dream that everyone can realize in their lifetime,” the founder of Tron believes.

Resignation from the Tron Foundation

In June 2019, Sun paid a record $4.57 million at a charity auction where the traditional annual lunch with Warren Buffett was played out. The meeting scheduled for July took place only in January 2020.

Recall that previously, Sun announced his resignation from the Tron Foundation to take the place of Grenada’s representative in the World Trade Organization.

Furthermore, he noted that his decision contributes to the decentralization of the Tron network. Which is currently managed by 27 elected “super-representatives”. Tron Foundation and BitTorrent had previously left their number, he stressed.
