American rapper Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known professionally as Eminem purchased a non-fungible token (NFT) Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) #9055 for 123.45 ETH (more than $450,000 at the exchange rate at the time of writing).
Eminem also updated his Twitter profile photo to the purchased image.
The buyer was an account with the nickname Shady_Holdings on the OpenSea NFT marketplace. His wallet stores more than 40 tokens from different collections. Eminem, who was named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2002, received the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2002 and has won 15 Grammy awards over his career, which began in the 1980s.
One of the tracks on his album mentions Bitcoin
“I’m living in a simulation. Thank you, Eminem for buying my ape and joining the club”. The former owner of NFT under the nickname GeeGazza wrote.
Moreover, the U.S. rapper’s interest in NFTs is not his first mentioning in the world of cryptocurrencies. In 2018, one of the tracks on his album “Kamikaze” – “Not Alike”, mentions Bitcoin (BTC).
Previously, an American rapper Post Malone bought an NFT from BAYC; one of the world’s largest NFT collections with 10,000 distinct digital treasures live on the Ethereum blockchain; for his collaboration with The Weeknd, a music video for “One Right Now.”
Metaverse Fashion Week
Recall that the luxury NFT marketplace UNXD, together with the Decentraland GameFi project, announced Metaverse Fashion Week in the metaverse.
Thus, on March 24-27, 2022, the participants of the event will be able to demonstrate their virtual fashion collections on the catwalk. In addition, buy outfits for avatars and join the party after the show.
In recent months, there has been a surge in interest in the metaverse; an environment created by the merging of virtual worlds; augmented reality, and internet services. It has opened up new options for producers, gamers, and artists by providing a collaborative virtual experience.
