Elon Musk created a Twitter poll on whether Tesla should start accepting payments for its products in Dogecoin. Earlier it became known that another Musk’s company SpaceX, will receive payment in Dogecoin for the launch of a space satellite into the orbit of the moon.

Thus, Elon Musk continues to support the most popular meme coin – Dogecoin. The voice of the billionaire Musk is a force to be reckoned with in influencing the crypto space.

Although in an interview from February 2021, Musk called it unwise to invest in digital assets. He noted that those who want to trade cryptocurrencies can “have fun”, and the success of Dogecoin depends on the “will of the people”.

Dogecoin has risen in price by 17% in a few minutes

As is usually the case when Musk suddenly writes about Dogecoin, the asset’s price skyrockets. A few minutes after the post by Elon Musk on Twitter, the Dogecoin rate increased by 17%, to $ 0.54. At the time of this writing, 78.9% of those who voted answered positively.

Billionaire and CEO of Tesla used Twitter as a platform for his comments and statements on a range of cryptocurrencies, focusing on his favorite cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

According to Google Trends, interest in Dogecoin among Google users has surpassed the number of requests for Bitcoin for the first time. A sharp spike has occurred in the last week.

In addition, on the popular tracking site CoinMarketCap, four canine-themed assets – SHIB, DOGE, AKITA and KISHA – were among the most viewed, while Bitcoin takes only ninth place.

Note that the price of DOGE has grown by almost 22,000% over the past year, and now the token occupies the fourth position in the cryptocurrency market in terms of market capitalization.

DOGE is one of the best players of the year

Musk’s Twitter poll came at a pretty interesting moment for a token. Just a few days ago, the billionaire hosted Saturday Night Live and was expected to talk about Dogecoin. On the eve of this event, the DOGE rate doubled in a week, but after that it dropped by 25%. Following Elon’s statements on the show, the coin dropped from $ 0.75 to $ 0.42.

However, since the beginning of the year, DOGE has been among the top players with a huge return on investment that has come after numerous celebrity appearances. Besides Musk, Snoop Dogg, Mark Cuban and others followed suit.

In addition, many well-known companies have allowed Dogecoin to pay for their services. However, if Tesla does offer DOGE payment, it will be the largest company to do so. In less than a day, the poll results could prompt Tesla to make an announcement in the near future.

Note that some sports clubs, such as Dallas Mavericks and Oakland Athletics, already accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment.

Earlier this year, the electric vehicle giant allowed payments in Bitcoin and even said it would keep all funds in BTC instead of converting it to cash.
