Domino’s Pizza in the Netherlands will offer workers Bitcoin salary

In honor of the annual holiday Bitcoin Pizza Day, the management of the Dutch franchise Domino’s Pizza offered employees to receive a salary in the first cryptocurrency. For 2021, the company has opened more than 15,900 restaurants in 85 countries of the world. For its many years of experience, the company has formed a successful business model. Note that the pizza maker Domino’s Pizza was one of the first to start accepting payments in cryptocurrency. The company’s management previously said that thanks to the integration of cryptocurrency payment systems, the pizzeria network has attracted a huge number of customers. For those wishing to pay in digital assets, restaurants periodically hold promotions, providing them with discounts.

Immensus Holding operates 16 Domino’s pizzerias in the Netherlands with over 1000 employees. They will be able to decide how much of their salary they want to receive in Bitcoin using the BTC Direct service.

The franchise made this decision due to the fact that the company employs a large number of young employees who are interested in Bitcoin. Thus, the company decided to give them the opportunity to get hold of the cryptocurrency.

Under Dutch law, an employer required to pay the minimum wage in euros only. However, employees may prefer other payments in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Pizza Day

Every year on May 22, the cryptocurrency community celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day. The community celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day for the 11th time in 2021, following a landmark event for the industry when, in 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. At the time of writing, they are worth $ 360 million. In May 2020, Laszlo Hanyecz revealed that he actually spent significantly more than 10,000 BTC. This event sparked a lot of discussion and jokes in the crypto communities, and the pizza itself became the most expensive in the world.

Pompliano launches the new project

Now the Bitcoin bulls are hesitant to use BTC as a medium of exchange.

Thus, crypto enthusiast and investor Anthony Pompliano launches the Bitcoin Pizza project in honor of Pizza Day. The new diner will start operating and will take orders right on Pizza Day. In addition, the number of pizza to order on this day limited to 10,000 boxes. One for each Bitcoin spent 11 years ago. The money received from the sale will be sent to the Bitcoin Development Fund, which is engaged in the popularization of cryptocurrency in the world.

You can order pizza on the project website. You can pick it up at a local pizzeria or arrange for home delivery. It is noteworthy that you can only pay in US dollars. Payments in cryptocurrency not accepted for ideological reasons: you only need to hold Bitcoin!

Bitcoin exchange OKCoin supported the investor’s idea and announced a draw for 100 pizzas.

The KuCoin cryptocurrency exchange limited itself to a simple congratulation on the annual Bitcoin Pizza Day.

As a reminder, in February 2021, a Reddit user spoke about the plans of a pizza delivery driver to cash out tips in Bitcoin, which had been lying since 2013.
