Avalanche blockchain now accessible to 4.5M users across Wirex payment ecosystem

On Monday, Wirex, a digital payment network that allows users to spend 62 different currencies and cryptocurrencies at over 61 million places across the world, announced the addition of Avalanche (AVAX) to its ecosystem. Users may now utilise the Avalanche blockchain to receive, transmit, store, and exchange AVAX coins as well as add custom tokens. Over the following several months, the business intends to onboard many AVAX-based tokens.

Furthermore, using Wirex’s decentralised financial savings product, X-Accounts, customers will be able to earn 20% yearly interest on AVAX. Across its app, wallet, and payment systems, the firm has over 4.5 million users from over 120 countries.

“Wirex is working rapidly to make digital assets and the innovation happening on public blockchains more accessible to the masses,” said John Wu, president of Ava Labs, the company that developed the AVAX blockchain.

Meanwhile, AVAX is “helping to build use cases for the Wirex ecosystem,” according to Wirex CEO and co-founder Pavel Matveev.

In 2015, Wirex claimed to have created the first crypto-enabled payment card in the world. The firm extended to the United States in January. And at the same time, it included the Polygon, BNB Chain, and Fantom blockchains. Wirex also offers its own native utility token, WXT. As well as a crypto reward scheme that rewards cardholders with up to 2% in WXT for each transaction. Since 2014, the business has completed transactions totalling more than $5 billion.
